Pittsburgh Business Pride Week

December 1–7, 2025

Pittsburgh Business Pride Week shines a spotlight on LGBTQ+ and allied businesses across our region during one of the most important weeks of the holiday season—running from Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday straight through the first weekend of December. This citywide initiative uplifts the businesses that power our neighborhoods, strengthens inclusive economic growth, and celebrates the vibrancy of Pittsburgh’s diverse business community.

Developed by Pittsburgh Equality Center, which has served LGBTQ+ people across Western Pennsylvania since 1979, this week centers community pride, local shopping, and collective visibility.

What Businesses Can Expect

Participating businesses will be featured in PEC’s online Business Directory, highlighted in neighborhood-by-neighborhood promotions throughout the week, and included in our citywide “passport program,” which drives foot traffic and rewards shoppers for supporting LGBTQ+ and allied establishments.

Business participation is free.

Why Participate?

Pittsburgh Business Pride Week is designed to:

  • Lift up LGBTQ+ and allied small businesses during a crucial holiday shopping period.
  • Increase foot traffic in neighborhood business districts.
  • Align with community-wide activity on Giving Tuesday.
  • Support economic visibility and representation for queer-owned and inclusive businesses.
  • Strengthen connections between small businesses, district managers, local government, and the wider community.

This week is about celebration—but also about belonging, economic justice, and the vibrant role our business community plays in supporting LGBTQ+ life across Pittsburgh.

How the Week Works

Each day focuses on a different region of Pittsburgh’s business districts, encouraging shoppers to explore diverse neighborhoods and discover new businesses.

  • Monday (Cyber Monday): Downtown & Strip District
  • Tuesday (Giving Tuesday): East End (Shadyside, Bloomfield, East Liberty, Highland Park, Squirrel Hill)
  • Wednesday: South Side & Hilltop
  • Thursday: North Side
  • Friday: West End & surrounding neighborhoods
  • Saturday: Lawrenceville, Garfield, Friendship, Polish Hill
  • Sunday: Citywide wrap-up & final passport check-ins

Businesses in each region will be promoted on the Center’s social channels and through local partners.

Participation Criteria

Any LGBTQ+-owned or allied business is welcome to join. Participants agree to:

  • Share Pittsburgh Business Pride Week promotional materials across social and other marketing channels.
  • Maintain an active listing in PEC’s Business Directory.
  • Host a QR code for shoppers participating in the passport program.

Participation is free. Optional sponsorships will be available for businesses wanting additional visibility.

Promotional Materials

The Center will provide:

  • Retail placard with QR code for the passport program
  • Social media graphics and digital badges
  • A dedicated webpage listing all participants and an interactive map

Businesses will receive digital materials upon registration.

Passport Program

To boost neighborhood shopping, a QR code at each participating business allows shoppers to “check in.”

  • Each check-in counts as a raffle entry.
  • Prizes include local merchandise, PEC swag, and gift cards from participating businesses.
  • Everyone is welcome to play—Pittsburgh residents, visitors, families, and supporters.

This program creates a fun, inclusive way to explore the city while supporting LGBTQ+ and allied businesses.

Media & Marketing

The campaign will be promoted through LGBTQ+ and mainstream media—including partners like QBurgh, the City Paper, and local TV and radio—along with PEC’s channels and participating business districts.
