Pride Month 2020
It’s Pride month here in Pittsburgh! We may not have Pride festivals this summer, but we have so much to be thankful for. Each day this month, our social media will feature an LGBTQ+ person that has made their mark on history.
Here at the PEC, we support racial equity and justice. We support the social justice initiatives by all who are working towards justice of the oppressed. We are deeply angered by the violence that has been inflicted both historically and currently across all parts of our society. We are especially disheartened by the violence that has been ongoing in the LGBTQIA+ community. The violence and murders have reached our city and abroad. We want you to know that we have heard your outcry. We are angered by anyone who incited violence in the peaceful protest on Saturday May 30. We stand in solidarity with all who continue to work for the justice of oppressed individuals. The time for violence against and murdering of our oppressed brothers and sisters here and abroad needs to end now!
Cooking with Yinz
In response to our Community Survey, we have heard your voices! Yinz want to focus on food and we are not complaining! With everyone cooking and baking while in self isolation the PEC has decided to bring back a past favorite. We will be putting together a cookbook this Summer with recipes from YOU! All recipes submitted will be compiled into categories. We will sell both physical and digital copies coming up soon. Please email your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org

Celebrate Pride Digitally
While we cannot celebrate Pride with festivals and parades this June, we are offering ways to celebrate Pride this month. Here is a list of queer related shows and movies on various streaming services; we will post about some of them this month to create some community:
The PEC is partnering with CenterLink and their youth online chat group; QChatSpace, to offer a place for queer youth to go while physically distancing. Each Sunday we will post QChatSpace’s schedule of topics and open chat times for youth (13-19) to login and talk to other queer youth. Follow the link below to create a login for the QChatSpace.
OUTrageous Bingo Pittsburgh has been canceled for the remainder of 2020
We are sad to share this disappointing news! But due to the current and anticipated course of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of OUTrageous Bingo has necessitated the cancellations.
This was a very difficult decision for the OUTrageous Bingo partners, the Pittsburgh Equality Center and the Shephard Wellness Community. OUTrageous Bingo has been a major source of income for both groups for over twenty years now.
We already miss everyone and appreciate the understanding of our game attendees, performers and volunteers. Our hope is for OUTrageous Bingo games to return in January 2021. If it is advisable, allowable and safe we will resume in January if public health officials advise us that risk of the virus has subsided.
